Since making his debut in Elite Xtreme Wrestling on March 13th, 2010 at the Rock Versus Wrestling show at the Marquee Theatre in a tag match, the Prophet has been a quiet man. Rarely speaking a word in the ring, nor to the fans, the Prophet has always kept to himself, letting his Luchadore style do the speaking for him. But after his pin fall victory at Xtreme Tuesday on September 14th, 2010 against Cutler Wright with Bryce Slaven in a Triple Threat Match, Prophet’s made an enemy. Wright issued a challenge in anger against Prophet for his 2nd in ring loss for a singles rematch on September 28th, 2010. EXW’s only Luchadore decided to open up on his wrestling career that spans 11 years, only 2 years after getting into wrestling, as he prepares for the match & let his fans inside his world.
Having come from the Heavens, the Prophet derives his name from the infamous Y2K Scares of 1999. While everyday folks were afraid their computers would crash, hiding their life savings & closing bank accounts, & stocking up on bullets in case of riots, Prophet was making his debut inside the wrestling ring with a name inspired by the scare. “Since I started in 1999, it seemed like the world was gonna end in 2000 with the whole Y2K scare. Talk of the Prophecies and the 2nd coming were all around me so I figured it was time for a 2nd coming in high-flying wrestling with The Prophet.”
And showing that the new Prophet of wrestling was truly coming, he did not go unnoticed. Wrestling for Tucson based Insane Championship Wrestling & Dragon’s Den Pro Wrestling, Prophet is a former Cruiserweight Champion in both promotions. And wrestling in Tucson brought Prophet close to his roots of the Luchadore style famous in Mexico. In the Luchadore community, a wrestler’s mask tells a story of who they are. And Prophet’s mask is no exception to this tradition that dates back to the early days of the 20th Century. “Mystique and tradition of Lucha Libre/Hybrid Wrestling at it's best,” is the story behind Prophet’s mask.
Prophet’s career has taken him all over the United States, as well as Mexico. And the road took him right down the path to EXW courtesy of CEO FTW offering Prophet a contract as the only Luchadore in the company. And Prophet had his reasons for signing on that dotted line, “Mainly the competition and professionalism. Also being part of something consistent that has a good fan-base.”
Since Prophet’s debut in EXW, the fans have been taking notice of his style in the ring. One fan in particular is the founding father of the Arizona Local Wrestling Forum (http://alwf.proboards.com/), Will Nolte. Many times in Nolte’s posts in helping to get the word out on EXW, he has made a connection between Prophet’s look and former Arizona favorite & Total Nonstop Action superstar RELLIK aka REDRUM. REDRUM has been known for taking wrestlers under his spell in the Order of REDRUM in the past & Nolte hints at Prophet being under that same spell. “That it was an OK assumption, but wrong. I represent the opposite side of REDRUM/RELLIK.”
REDRUM derives from the Deepest, Darkest Pits of Hell while Prophet has been known as coming from None Other Then Heaven. But the fans of EXW have recently spoken on the EXW Facebook page that they would like to see REDRUM in EXW, yet they are not alone in this wish. Prophet spoke of who he would like meet inside an EXW ring, “The rest of the roster I have yet to face and maybe RELLIK (REDRUM) to put those rumors to rest.”
But as noted before, Cutler Wright is next on the agenda for Prophet on September 28th, 2010 at Xtreme Tuesday at Toby Keith’s. Wright was handed his 2nd loss recently by the Prophet, but his first pin fall loss at Prophet’s hands as well. That pin fall was also the highlight of Prophet’s EXW career since March 13th, 2010. “He had an impressive run for a while until Khan Kussion ended it (September 10th, 2010 @ The Day the Earth Stood Still). Being the 2nd man to upset him is ok with me though.”
And now Prophet has his eyes set on September 28th, 2010 & getting Wright in the ring for another loss. And Prophet feels he has something to prove to Wright on that day, “Prove that it wasn't a fluke victory on the 14th. Vegas (Wright) does a lot of talking before and after matches. I'll let my actions in the ring do the talking for me.”
Prophet isn’t ashamed to admit that on August 8th, 2010, he faced his toughest opponent in EXW; one Gabriel Gallo. Gallo had plenty of respect in the match, as both men shook hands at the start but Prophet fell short that night to a Gallo spear. But that doesn’t stop Prophet from eyeing the newly crowned Heavyweight Champion, Derrick Neikirk. “Elite, Intense and Hard working. He may deserve the title with that being said, but the same can be said about me.”
And a match with Neikirk down the road could be in Prophet’s future as long as Prophet plays his cards right. And that includes staying on the good side of CEO FTW. But FTW doesn’t hold all the keys to what happens in EXW according to Prophet. “FTW is obviously making things harder for certain people, i.e. Ryan Castelucci, but I do like how he wants the best performances from all the guys in the back. I try to do my best and stay fresh all the time. Everyone else should too…and not just because your job is on the line.”
What would be a good way to keep things fresh for the elite athletes of EXW? A Cruiserweight Division. And recently in an interview, Bryce Slaven spoke on EXW having a cruiserweight division & Prophet appears to agree with Slaven even though the 2 are foes inside the ring, “Of course, don't you? There's hungry fans everywhere that love seeing high risk action that you only get from Cruiserweights. We need more guys to share the spotlight of high flying with me and to push me to the limits.”
And cruiserweight history has shown the likes of Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, & Eddie Guerrero, to name a few, going on as former Cruiserweights to be World Champions. And they all share the exact same high fling talent that the Prophet has shown in the EXW ring. And on September 28th, Prophet has that big challenge of Cutler Wright ahead of him, as a victory could place him well into the soon to debut EXW Top 10 & make a run for Derrick Neikirk’s EXW Heavyweight Championship. The Prophet has definitely shown though that he can take things to the elite style of EXW for all fans to continue enjoying his Luchadore style against EXW’s best!
