The Day the Earth Stood Still definitely brought some new chapters into the world of Elite Xtreme Wrestling that fans witnessed on September 10th, 2010 at the Marquee Theatre. And some of those chapters came to fold at Xtreme Tuesday on September 14th, 2010 back at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar.
Gabriel Gallo was out in full force Tuesday night to start the new chapter for fans to witness, as Gallo spoke of the EXW Heavyweight Champion, Derrick Neikirk, & showed the man respect by calling him the Elite Athlete. Gallo then spoke of his opponent from the 10th, Dom “the Bomb” Vitalli & their TLC Match…a match that had fans on the edge of their seat & will definitely go down in the history books as 1 of, if not the best, match for both participants. Gallo’s words were not left unwarranted, as the Freak Squad decided to confront Gallo in the center of the ring regarding his comments. Vitalli got on the mic & insisted that he still was the better man of the 2, as he never tapped out, nor was he pinned by Gallo in the TLC Match. Vitalli also mentioned that the fans would love to see them in 1 more match, but that was not the case. Vitalli feels he needs to return his focus back into tag team wrestling with his partner, Frenchy Rivera. But before both men would leave the ring, Rivera through a challenge out for Gallo to meet him at Xtreme Tuesday on October 5th, 2010 in a singles match.
After all 3 men left the ring, back up ring announcer Sal Erakat was out to introduce the participants for the opening contest…a Triple Threat Match. This hard hitting, back & forth battle witnessed Cutler Wright out to avenge his loss & get back on the winning trail of EXW by facing the EXW Luchadore The Prophet, as well as the Cruiserweight With an Attitude, Bryce Slaven. Fans were more then happy to remind Wright that not only did he lose his match on the 10th, but serenaded him with a chant of “You tapped out!” This lead to Wright being unable to focus on the match & be on the receiving end of a pin fall loss to The Prophet. In anger, Wright issued a challenge to Prophet for September 28th in a one on one match for the 2 contrasting styles!
Tyson Tyler was out next, as he decided to interrupt the proceedings going on. Tyler issued an open challenge to the new EXW Heavyweight Champion for a rematch from September 10th & a shot at the Gold Belt. This did not sit well with Tyler’s friend, Val Venis, at all…as Venis made his way to the ring & insisted that he, not Tyler, should be the #1 Contender to the belt since Tyler had his chance already. Venis also talked about how he wants revenge on Neikirk for all the unsportsmanlike cheap shots Venis received. This conversation brought out the EXW Heavyweight Champion, who informed both men & the fans that he was taking the night off. But Neikirk did announce that the main event of the evening would be a #1 Contender’s Match between the 2 friends, Val Venis & Tyson Tyler.
As both men left the ring wanting revenge on Neikirk for various reasons, it was time for Ryan Castelucci to extract revenge on one Andrew Hellman for his sneak attack at the end of the Gauntlet Match. Both men were slated to compete in a 1 on 1 match that took place inside the ring & outside, as well. Hellman, realizing he wasn’t prepared for the match at all, decided to take the high road & fled the ring as the referee issued a 10 count, declaring Castelucci the winner. Chances are, this did not end well at all for both men seeing as how the ring could not contain the 2 men. And Castelucci would love to extract revenge against Hellman for his pre-match words against him & his injured partner/cousin, Woodro Santenelli.
The Freak Squad was out next, in which they officially started their search for new Freak Squad members. And in true Freak Squad Fashion, they announced the Freak Squad Invitational Challenge opened to anybody who wants to prove they could hang with the Freak Squad. And to prove one can hang with the Squad, they must compete against them in a tag team match to show they can go hold for hold. The first 2 men who were looking for acceptance would be former foes, & what would now appear to be newfound friends, Johnny Manson & Crash Test Cody. Cody was still out on a mission to earn his first EXW victory & what better man to help him is a man who has beaten him in the past, Johnny Manson. This traditional style tag team match was definitely a hard hitting match for all 4 involved, but Manson & Cody’s chances came up short when Rivera scored the pin fall for his team on Manson.
After the Freak Squad’s post match celebration, it was time for the evening’s main event! 2 friends forced to compete against each other, but was this match done so by Derrick Neikirk to tire both men out? Or was it done by EXW CEO FTW to protect his investment? Either way, both Val Venis & Tyson Tyler respected each other enough to place their friendship aside for 1 night, both with 2 goals in sight: Derrick Neikirk & the EXW Heavyweight Championship. As both men battled it out in front of a divided crowd, Tyler’s chances would fall short to Venis’s finisher, the Money Shot. As Venis celebrated his #1 Contendership, Neikirk decided to that was his moment to make a move & attack an unprepared & worn out Val Venis. As Neikirk went for a kick, Venis managed to catch his leg, preventing another low shot to the Venis moneymaker. Neikirk has another trick up his sleeve though, as he used an old Japanese Tradition of spraying red mist in the face of Venis.
Derrick Neikirk is now a marked man after his recent actions, without a doubt. Both Val Venis & Tyson Tyler want a piece of him. Venis is the obvious one to get his hands on Neikirk first as the new #1 contender though. And Neikirk has proven outside the matches, he will do whatever it takes to eliminate the competition. But what will the repercussions be for Neikirk? It’s been apparent by his talks that FTW is behind the newly crowned champion. Yet Neikirk’s history shows he is not afraid to back down from a challenge. Plus, seeing as how Neikirk won the belt by holding the ropes, he’s a man not afraid of shortcuts, either. Does this mean we could see a different Val Venis in the near future? A man willing to stoop to the level of Derrick Neikirk? Or a man willing to put Neikirk in his place by the book? The best way to learn the answers is to bear witness to the next Xtreme Tuesday on September 28th, 2010 at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & the truth shall set the fans free!
