Before anyone tries to point out that I am breaking my own rule, this isn't about wrestling it is about a venue/booking agent. I feel this needs to be said.
After going to the EXW show at Marquee tonight (The show itself was awesome. Congrats to the EXW people for putting on a top notch performance), I have a few gripes about Lucky Man/Marquee Theater. It is bad enough I have to pay 5 bucks to park (a charge I do not even see at other venues with not even half the size lot that Marquee has), but then I get charged 23 bucks at the ticket window for a ticket that one of the top guys in EXW had reserved for me. That is a pretty steep price for any show at the Marquee (I know they are charging more for the Fall Frenzy/Uproar tickets...which is even more outrageous). Granted the EXW show was good and worth the money, but when the ticket price is advertised as 10 bucks (the Luckyman site didn't mention ringside when I looked, which was advertised as 15) and they turn around and charge double that? WTF? Their excuse was a 5 dollar at-the-door fee charge. Ummm how does 15 + 5 = 23? Where did these idiots learn their math?
Then there was the booking of Bro Loaf. Ok, I get they are a parody band and Lucky Man insisted on adding them to the bill. I couldn't understand what they were saying most of the time and they were pretty insensitive with the "Muslim Terrorist with the bomb strapped to his chest" bit. The whole thing was idiotic. What really offended me though was the fact that Lucky Man compared wrestling fans to that ASU Frat House Toolbag crap. Wrestling fans, even the worst ones, are much more sophisticated than that.
Thing is though, Lucky Man/Marquee do not care what people say about them. They have a stranglehold on entertainment in the valley and they get our money anyway. They have their fingers in all the big festivals and they will keep control. Things need to change around here.
