That is the best way to explain just how Xtreme Tuesday ended for the final show of August, as Elite Xtreme Wrestling had 1 last show before The Day the Earth Stood Still. And if what transpired Tuesday is just any idea of what is to come on September 10th, then EXW will never be the same. And the show opened with the Freak Squad coming out to pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night.
As Dom “the Bomb” Vitalli & Frenchy Rivera entered the ring, the toilet paper was sent flying in the ring, as well as Twinkies in honor of Rivera. Rivera started off on the mic, discussing his open challenge for September 10th for anybody to step in the ring for a 1 on 1 match with the man who’s been in the ring, toe to toe with such legends as Jerry “the King” Lawler, Abdullah the Butcher, & Cactus Jack. “ No one in the back! No one in the seats! No one on the internet has the balls to accept my challenge for September 10th,” is what Rivera had to said in the ring. And by time he turned the mic over to Vitalli, nobody had still accepted the challenge. Vitalli, on the other hand, had some words for the fans in attendance. Vitalli decided to go off on Chucky, an EXW Loyalist since day 1. Then Vitalli turned his attention to his cheering squad at ringside, the only Freak Squad fans in attendance. Even myself, Toom E. Guci, was not safe from Vitalli’s tirades, as I was called an internet nerd for my reports an articles. Vitalli even decided to pick on the 2 birthday girls in attendance, calling them ring rats, & 2 underage girls in attendance, calling them future ring rats. Vitalli did not care who he pissed off or alienated, because he was on a mission. And the mission was to show that Vitalli did not give a damn about what anyone thought of him as he prepares for the Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match on September 10th against Gabriel Gallo at the Marquee Theatre. “Get ready to pass that title of the King of No Rules to Dom ‘the Bomb’,” is what Vitalli had to say before he was down, claiming that Gallo will feel the elbow drop off the top rope for Vitalli’s victory.
When all was said & done, the Freak Squad left the ring as the fans anticipated the first match up that saw Johnny Manson take on the Prophet in a hard hitting, high flying match. Both men were ready to tear into each other when the bell rang, as Manson tried for the upper hand many times & even attempted to break a few holds by using Prophet as a little snack. Apparently, Manson’s pre-match Twinkie just wasn’t enough. Prophet continued his upper hand assault, as he slammed Manson to the mat in the corner, climbing the ropes, & nailing a split leg moonsault to try & take out Manson. This was no luck at all, as Manson eventually got Prophet in the corner & nailed Prophet with a Lunchtime. This was not enough to keep prophet down, as his leg managed to get on the rope to break the 3 count. Manson dragged Prophet out into the center of the ring, where he nails a running knee drop & attempts to make Prophet tap out in the center of the ring, using a Dragon Sleeper as his defense. This had little to no effect on Prophet, as he managed to escape the hold & showed Manson a submission attempt of his own, a hanging full nelson, following it up with a sit-down slam. Manson’s do or die attitude was not ready to give up just yet, as a kick out continues the match. Manson regains the upper hand, throwing Prophet into the corner, but Prophet manages to doge out of the ring, & Manson misses an elbow in the corner, while Prophet quickly gets to the top rope & nails Manson with a dropkick. With Manson down in the center of the ring, Prophet quickly gets back to the air, as he climbs the ropes, leaps off into a shooting star press, & gains the pin fall victory in a very hard fought battle for both men.
“EXW is about the elite & the extreme,” is what EXW CEO FTW had to say after both Manson & prophet left the ring, as FTW was out next. An announcement was made for September 10th at the Day the World Stood Still & that announcement was not only will Frenchy Rivera get his Open Challenge, but that Falls Can Count Anywhere at the Marquee Theatre. And with the way Rivera’s history is in the ring, nobody knows exactly where Rivera can take his match! This means the pin fall can take place in the ring, in the lobby, in the bar area, or it can be taken outside the Marquee Theatre. And with the closeness of proximity, a pin fall can occur on the Light Rail or even the emptied out Tempe Town Lake, as Rivera is a man not afraid to take it extremely to far. But the main reason FTW was out was to discuss the September 10th EXW Heavyweight Championship Match between Derrick Neikirk & Tyson Tyler. It would appear that Tyler had not signed the contract for the match just yet, as Tyler wants a warm up match with Neikirk to give Neikirk a taste of what to look forward to. “I can not have anybody hurt & cost me money,” was FTW’s response to Tyler’s request. Instead FTW has other plans for Tyler on Xtreme Tuesday & those plans are strictly business, as Tyler is now forced to team up with the undefeated Cutler Wright & face off against his tag team partners from the previous show, Gabriel Gallo & Sean “Val Venis” Morley.
And as FTW left the ring, it was time for the next contest that brought Crash Test Cody into the ring hoping his unlucky streak of loses would come to an end. And if you think about it, this match would not be a 1 on 1 match as scheduled, because Dom “the Bomb” Vitalli would have his tag team partner, Frenchy Rivera, at ringside with him. Vitalli started the match off with a strong advantage, bringing double axe handles repeatedly to the back of Cody. And outside the ring, Rivera was enjoying himself a Twinkie from earlier but apparently did not like the taste of it, as he smeared it in Cody’s face while Cody was hung up in the ropes. Cody finally was able to get an offense in, as Vitalli through him in the ropes, missed a clothesline, missed a chop as Cody bounced back, as Cody was able to get control of himself & drop down, pulling Vitalli with him into a pinning predicament. This did not bode well for Cody, as Vitalli escaped the pin & through Cody outside the ring…only to be able to distract the referee as Rivera through a punch of his own to Cody. Cody was sent back into the ring eventually, as Vitalli showed him just how to do a Bodyslam, following it up with his patented elbow drop off the top rope. Normally, Vitalli would finish his opponents here but tonight, he wanted to send 1 more message to Gallo. Vitalli through Cody into the turnbuckles, & starting mimicking Gallo’s interaction with the fans, then ran at Cody with a dropkick to the lower region. This was actually enough of a stall to help Cody get to his senses & grab Vitalli into a reverse DDT. As Cody continued to gain momentum, he climbed the 2nd rope, & leaped off…but his luck would run out as Vitalli grabbed him midair & sent Cody home with an atomic drop. That was pretty much enough for Cody, as his losing streak went on to 3 in a row & Vitalli called the winner…sending Vitalli into September 10th victoriously.
But the Freak Squad’s night was not over by a long shot, as Frenchy Rivera was out…this time with Vitalli in his corner. And his opponent would be the Cruiserweight With An Attitude, Bryce Slaven. And Slaven was definitely ready for any dirty tactics the Squad had to offer, as he attacked Rivera before the bell even rang. Slaven, being a man not afraid to bend the rules, sent Rivera in the corner with several kicks & choke attempts as the referee tried to break Slaven away. Slaven would have none of that from the referee, only to go back to the hold after breaking it. Vitalli would show that he is a factor in this match, as he throws a punch to Slaven, causing Slaven to break away. Rivera removed his shirt & decided to give Slaven a taste of his own medicine, Frenchy-style, as he choked Slaven out with his t-shirt. As the match progressed, Slaven attempted to go for Rivera’s weakness after dodging a Rivera forearm in the corner, & went after the injured arm. Several attempts were made at ripping off the arm brace, only to have the referee involved once again & yank Slaven off Rivera. Slaven then finally goes legal, as he connects an elbow to the injured arm, but then goes for the brace again. Slaven’s finally gets the brace off, exposing the bandaged arm of Rivera, but Rivera counters with a punch & eye rake to Slaven, temporarily blinding him. Rivera goes for another splash in the corner on Slaven, but Slaven dodges & hits Rivera with a vicious clothesline. By this point, Vitalli has had enough & gets on the apron to distract Slaven, but the referee argues with Vitalli to get down. Meanwhile, Rivera takes out Slaven with a pair of brass knuckles as the referee turns around just in time to call the 3 count, declaring Rivera the winner of the match.
After the Freak Squad had left the ring, being victorious in both their singles matches, it was now time for the tag team match set up earlier by FTW. Cutler Wright & Tyson Tyler were out first, in which you could visually tell their would be problems with this thrown together team. Gabriel Gallo & Sean “Val Venis” Morley were out next, undecided who would start things off first so a friendly competition of Paper, Rock, Scissors brought the answer of Morley starting things out. As Morley & Tyler battled inside the ring, Wright refused to acknowledge his tag team partner verbally & every time Tyler was close to the corner, he refused the tag in as well. Meanwhile, this caused Tyler to take a beating from the quick tag actions of Gallo & Morley. Tyler wound up being on the receiving end of a picture perfect vertical suplex from Morley, as well as a brutal Rude Awakening Neckbreaker. After the punishment was given out, Tyler was able to mount a comeback with several punches to Morley. Morley forced Tyler into the corner, where he tagged Gallo. Tyler was able to escape the attack with a hiptoss off the ropes to Gallo & FINALLY gets to his corner & forces a tag into the match for Wright. As Wright was in the ring, Tyler decided to give Wright a taste of his own medicine, while Wright sent Gallo flying throughout the ring via 2 hiptosses & a clothesline. Morley eventually gets the upper hand for his team on a fresh Wright with Bodyslam, tagging in Gallo, who connects with a Vader Bomb. Gallo gets Wright up against the ropes & shows Wright exactly why he has the hardest chops ever seen in an EXW ring. Morley joins in the chop fest, as both men use their tag team experience to double team Wright before the 5 count.
As the match progressed, the in ring action saw Wright & Morley being thrown around by both men, neither giving up. Morley through Wright into the ropes, going for a back body drop but Wright countered it with a kick to the chest region & then both men took each other out with a double clothesline. As the referee started issuing his 10 count, both men struggled to their feet. Gallo joined his partner in the ring after both men made the 10 count & showed more proof of why it’s better to team with your friends then your enemies, as they double teamed Wright with a wishbone pull on him. Gallo showed why he is a submission machine, setting Wright up with a Tequila Sunrise, but being to close to the ropes worked for Wright’s advantage as he reached the bottom rope. Not liking this, Gallo forced Wright into the center of the ring & applied the figure 4 Leglock on him, only to have Wright roll over for the reversal, forcing Gallo’s hand to release the hold. Wright manages the upper hand & throws Gallo into the ropes, but Gallo ducks a clothesline & connects with a Pele’ Kick, sending Wright back a bit. Once again, Tyler managed to get the tag in the ring & was a house of fire on both Morley & Gallo, but this didn’t last to long as his tag team partner showed his true colors & connected a jawbreaker on Tyler…putting him at a disadvantage, then Wright walked out on him. Moments later, Morley connects with a Full Nelson Slam for the pin fall victory. After the match, both Morley & Gallo showed Tyler that what just happened in the ring was nothing personal & helped him to his feet, raising his hands in the center of the ring as a sign of respect, as the 3 men soaked in the admiration of the crowd.
Ryan Castelucci was out next, but he was alone. And you could tell something wasn’t right here as Castelucci wasn’t pumping his fist or dancing around like himself. Something had cost Castelucci his smile, as he took the microphone from Johnny Roxx. Castelucci apologized for his absence at the last show, even though his absences was forced by upper management. Castelucci informed the crowd that his partner/cousin, Woodro Santenelli, was attacked in the parking lot earlier by 5-6 guys & was in the hospital at this time. Santenelli suffered severe nerve damage to his leg & the doctors say he may not wrestle ever again. “This is some gangsta stuff,” is how Castelucci described it & added, “I am done trying to fight this system crap.”
Castelucci asked for back up EXW ring announcer Sal Erakat to the ring, in which he wanted to apologize to him like a man, face to face. Erakat accepted the apology on mic, but had a few choice words towards Castelucci off mic that did not phase well at all with Castelucci. This caused Castelucci to stop his leaving the ring & get back in Erakat’s face, where again he apologized to him, only a different tone, “I’m sorry I hit you. I’m sorry we didn’t beat the s*** out of you!” as Castelucci then proceeded to beat down Erakat in the ring, causing CEO FTW to rush out to the ring from the back & try to break things up. Castelucci shoved FTW out of the way & continued his assault. This angered FTW some more, as Castelucci finally stopped his assault on Erakat long enough to hear that FTW was placing him in a Gauntlet Match at The Day the Earth Stood Still. But FTW wasn’t done with Castelucci just yet for his actions, as he added, “I got a lil surprise for ya…hit his music!!”
And the music of “The Elite Athlete” Derrick Neikirk began to play, as Neikirk charged into the ring for the night’s main event. Neikirk showed the crowd just why he was the Elite Athlete as he took Castelucci to school with various amateur wrestling moves. Neikirk nails Castelucci with a forearm to the face, then charged at him in the corner. Castelucci manages to evade the corner splash & hiptosses Neikirk into an arm bar, refusing to let go. Neikirk breaks the arm bar with a foot on the rope & hit’s a knee to the gut on Castelucci after both get to their feet. A chop by Neikirk sends Castelucci reeling in pain. Neikirk managed to get Castelucci down on the mat as he used the ropes for leverage to try & choke Castelucci out with his foot. Thinking with his surroundings, Castelucci managed to escape from the ring but this didn’t end well, as Neikirk followed him out, throwing him headfirst into the metal ring steps. Neikirk then grabbed Castelucci & hit him with a snap suplex on the outside of the ring to the unprotected floor. Neikirk got back to his feet first, grabbing Castelucci, & driving his back into the ring apron. Neikirk then set up Castelucci for another attack to the ring steps, but a reversal sent Neikirk into the steps instead. Castelucci was able to break the 10 count in the ring, shortly followed by Neikirk. Neikirk once again got the upper hand, in which he set Castelucci up on the top rope, & attempted a suplerplex. Castelucci was able to muster the offense & throw several punches to the ribs, causing Neikirk to fall alone to the mat. Using his surroundings though, Neikirk took advantage of the referee’s placement & shoved him into the ropes, which caused Castelucci to lose his balance, crashing down to the mat. This did not last long though, as Castelucci took Neikirk down with 3 shoulder blocks after several runs of the ropes, followed up by a kick to the midsection & a Dominator in the middle of the ring. Just as Neikirk was able to mount a comeback, Tyson Tyler made his way to ringside to badmouth his future opponent & distract him for a school boy roll up by Castelucci. Neikirk managed a kick out & attack Castelucci with several punches in anger, trying to send a message to Tyler.
At this point, Tyler had seen enough & jumped into the ring, attacking Neikirk. Both men started brawling in the center of the ring but the action did not end there. Dom “The Bomb” Vitalli ran into the ring, steel chair in hand, to attack Tyler. Just as Vitalli was about to swing the chair, Gabriel Gallo ran out from the back to attack Vitalli…little did Gallo know is that he wasn’t alone. Following close behind Gallo was Frenchy Rivera, but thankfully Gallo had somebody watching his back in the form of Sean “Val Venis” Morley. As Tyler & Neikirk continued their fight in the ring, Vitalli connected his chair to the head of Gallo while Rivera worked on an already hurting Castelucci after taking Morley out. The Freak Squad grabbed Tyler from behind as Neikirk took the EXW Heavyweight Championship from Monster Mayhem & introduced the belt in his own special way to Tyler…upside the head. Vitalli stood above Gallo, trash talking him while showing him the dent Gallo’s head made in the chair while Neikirk stood in the center of the ring, holding up the prize he hopes to gain officially on September 10th. And as Neikirk stood in the ring, looking victorious, the match against Castelucci was ruled a No Contest due to everybody whom was involved in the ending.
And judging by the ending, this set up a positive note for Derrick Neikirk & Dom “The Bomb” Vitalli going into their matches on September 10th. With the last image of the night being Gabriel Gallo & Tyson Tyler laid out in the ring, it gives a strong taste of victory in the mouths of both men. But those laid out were done so by outside help. Neikirk will not have Frenchy Rivera & Vitalli in the ring with him…he will only have Tyson Tyler. And after the recent actions, Tyson Tyler is ready to bring his A game to the ring & give Neikirk a taste of his own medicine. Not to mention Vitalli will not have Neikirk, nor Rivera in the ring with him either. Granted, Vitalli will have Tables, Ladders, & Chairs…but Gallo is NO stranger to these available extras in a match. In fact, the King of No Rules enjoys these weapons & is not afraid to taste his own blood to get his message across.
September 10th, 2010 at the Marquee Theatre is shaping up to be the biggest card in EXW history. Matches officially announced will see the Innovator of Violence take on the Former Porn Star as Tommy Dreamer does battle against Sean “Val Venis” Morley in the Battle of the Former WWE Superstars. Will this be a match of honor? Or is there some secret from the past that is causing both men to want to meet in the ring?
Ryan Castelucci will face an unknown challenge of his own in a Gauntlet Match. But the question remains: How many opponents will be in that Gauntlet? 2? 3? 7? Is Castelucci ready for his biggest challenge as FTW makes this match for personal reasons?
Dom “The Bomb” Vitalli enters into a match he’s never participated in before…a TLC Match. But Vitalli’s recent actions shows that he is NOT afraid of what he’s in for. And his opponent, Gabriel Gallo, is no stranger to the odds. Vitalli’s out to avenge his tag team partner’s broken arm, while Gallo is out to show no fear! And both men are ready to lay it all on the line for Honor!
Frenchy Rivera is a man on a mission. And that mission is to show everybody that he is not afraid of whoever steps in that ring. Rivera has faced the Hardcore Gangsta New Jack, the psychotic Cactus Jack, the insane Abdullah the Butcher, & the King Jerry Lawler…to name a few. And Rivera is not afraid of whomever steps in the ring for the Frenchy Rivera Falls Count Anywhere Open Challenge.
And the main event of the evening will crown the first ever Elite Xtreme Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. 1 man’s hand will be raised in victory in the center of the ring, while another man will taste defeat. There can only be 1 Heavyweight Champion! Will it be Tyson Tyler? Will it be Derrick Neikirk? Both men want that championship, but both men also want another thing….REVENGE!
September 10th, 2010 at the Marquee Theatre is the only way to get answers the fans are looking for. And the Day the Earth Stood Still promises to change the face of EXW FOREVER!
