Since the "Highs and Lows" obviously can't happen...here's one crazy guy's take.
Keep in mind that I respect and appreciate all of the in-ring performers putting their bodies and well-being on the line just to entertain the 60 or so of us in the audience. None of this is meant to be disrespectful, or even as an in-depth look at the show. Just the things that stuck out to me.
PLUSSES
+ Free entry thanks to @barrettfigure being the 200th Facebook follower contest deal!
+ Astro Boy!
+ "Anorexic Oreo"
+ "Ice Pick" as the Yeti!
+ The savior gimmick dude, whose name I've forgotten, but he played that part perfectly.
+ Nordic Nightmare!
+ DEATH MACHINE! DEATH MACHINE! Greatest wrestler name of ALL TIME!
+ Team Techno!
+ "Nicky Fury!"
+ Andrea The Giant
+ That girl with the vuvuzela
+ The head promoter coming over and thanking those of us with @barrettfigure for coming out.
+ "Diabolical" Dan Draven was pretty solid.
+ "Mr. 1%" is a fantastic gimmick
+ KNOME KING! BOW TO YOUR KING, PEASANTS!
+ Chad the Badd as Spike Dudley
MINUSES
- Chad the Badd as Spike Dudley
- PEASANTS NOT BOWING TO THEIR KING!
- Main event fell a little flat. I found out Disco Kid got hurt partway through the match, and I wish him a speedy recovery. But it definitely hurt the overall show.
- Chris Sindel is billed from Angel Grove, but he wasn't a Power Ranger. Seriously?
- While I'm on it, Bull and Skull was too close to "Bulk and Skull" to make me think about anything but the bullies from Power Rangers.
- "Rave Michaels"? Really? I think you're about 10 years too early to be allowed to recycle that gimmick and be taken seriously.
- Yeti's beer gut. Work that off, and he'd have a great look for an indy monster.
- Nicky Fury being set on fire. Booo.
- "The Perfect Manager" swerving a babyface...in favor of a guy who already has a manager?
- The promoter calling out a particular wrestler who no-showed the event. I understand that he's upset, but villainizing a guy with a family for trying to make a living? I can't get behind that.
- Chance Prophet looking like a silent monster, but then yakking with the fat guy in the front row more than he was wrestling.
But, overall, it was a solid show, and I had a very good time. I'll be back next month!
