Now, THAT'S how to fully do a wrestling show! Personally, this was the best show in quite some time & a great way to officially start under the FSW AZ Banner! Everything just rolled together & it showed from the matches to the promos to continuity. Granted, there were a few lows...but really, not that strong of a Lows. Although, 1 low in particular will get me on a soap box rant & it is NOT FSW's staff or roster's fault...& they honestly had nothing to do with it.
So, let's be honest & get the lows out of the way because I feel a well winded rant coming that might get me a 4th straight week of Hate Mail!
Lows:
Woody gets ANOTHER name? Last show was Ivan Hunter & now he's Woody Hunter? This is 4 name changes...is that the gimmick? To find a name? Or are we just forgetting to pay attention to what we're calling him?
Both referees seemed really off tonight, with the bald ref not even showing any form of being into it. He just was out there, almost doing nothing it felt like.
(That's actually the only FSW Low for tonight, so here comes my rant)
As a person who's been personally invited into storylines for a couple of companies & is actually personal friends with a small number of wrestlers, plus has been around the indy scene for over a decade, heed my advice here whether you like it or not...DO NOT GET INVOLVED IN ANY ASPECT! If you do not work for the company or are told beforehand you could do so, stay OUT of the wrestkler's way or path...that includes if a wrestler is injured & has to be carried to the back. You are a fan in the audience, you are NOT part of the storyline. That's what the security's job is, that's what FSW's EMT's job is, & if the staff feels the injury is serious enough, they will send out more to help. I don't care how concerned you are, how much of a ringrat or fan you are, or how much of an emotional attachment you have to said wrestler. You do not see fans jumping the barrier if John Cena is carted out via stretcher to help push the stretcher. You do not see Kevin Nash's wife leaping the barricade & help him when he tears his quad for the 25th time. You do not see Dominic helping Rey Mysterio when he jacks up & goes out for another knee surgery. Unless you are an employee of the promotion you are watching, you DO NOT get involved & help carry the wrestler to the back. For starters, it's a kayfabe killer. Kayfabe needs to be protected by any way, shape, or form...& you doing such act...ESPECIALLY to a wrestler who is a heel, breaks kayfabe AND can possibly get said wrestler in trouble backstage. And when I tell you this to your face because I have been around a hell of a lot longer then you, you LISTEN! Because I was not the only one who felt what happened was in the wrong, but I was the only one willing to tell you to your face!
/Rant
Highs:
The lighting effect for the opening of the show...very nice! A different touch that led to a strong anticipation.
Free entry for donating a toy. Not the first time they've given to the community, as the old days of EXW & the current days of FSW, they are VERY strong in giving to the community various ways!
Match of the Night: This is, without a doubt, a VERY tough one to pick! 3 matches tied for Match of the Night...Mosh Pit Mike/Willie Mack vs Miracle Mike James/Woody, Cutler Wright versus Chad Thomas, & Kyle Hawk vs Rexx Reed.
Cutler Wright's 450 splash...INCREDIBLE!
Josh Carey continues to grow an aerial assault. 2nd match in a row he's gone off the top ropes in an impressive fashion.
They actually had multiple tag matches! Great to see a strong paying attention to in that part.
The Luchas are getting a storyline! First off, their tag match was great! Then you get a heel turn! They're showing the fans that Luchas can do more then just wrestle with this.
The carrying over of Rexx Reed/Ray Basura in a feud that started on Twitter & Facebook.
Ray Basura gets more mic time...always enjoy hearing him talk!
Wow...I actually liked a Woody match! Who knew!
Manson seems to slowly getting back to his old ways...in a good way!
The New Kliq was VERY impressive in their debut match. And Robert Royal can cut a damn good promo...better then they're manager did last show.
I love how strong the crowd was for Guzmania! That guy has a great look & works really great for a man his size!
Shadow Fox/Lucha Starr...real solid tag team of veteran/rookie. They lloked like a team that's been together for quite some time...great teamwork! I dub the Mucha Lucha2.0!
Debut of Disco Kid...yes, he lost! But he had a strong match with Chukky Jr. & looked damn good in his Adrenaline Rush debut.
Sergio Vega gets a mic in his hands, brings back the rolling R's, & is Sergio we all remember. And into it, the stuff between him & Kyle Hawk...INCREDIBLE!! This is definetly the feud to watch that will bring the fans great matches! From brawling through the audience, to the old style of being pulled apart by security & still trying to get at each other...this has the makings of a classic, old school feud of hatred!
And as you can see, the Highs DEFINETLY outweight the lows. Will it keep up? I surely hope so! More shows like this & things can be back on track, if ya ask me! And Holiday Havok in 2 weeks has a strong shapping up going on, such as:
the Arizona return of FunnyBones...a VERY talented wrestler that we haven't seen around here since the debut of EXW
Miracle Mike James vs Willie Mack for the Elite Championship in a Falls Count Anywhere Match...if the tag match is an idea of where things will go with it inside the ring & outside, this has Match of the Year written all over it with 2 talented individuals
Woody vs Mosh Pit Mike...hey, the tag match brings high hopes to this match, that's for sure....wonder what name Woody will have then?
Rexx Reed vs Ray Basura...just following these guys on Twitter & Facebook, plus look at their past matches against others...going to be a strong match for both & possibly their best EXW/FSW match EVER!
So as we go into Holiday Havol 2 weeks away, I announce this as OFFICIALLY the Last Highs & Lows for personal reasons. Nothing against the company, although this show did make Highs & Lows go out with a bang, but let's just leave it at personal reasons for now.
Thank you to all who have read over the years...from IZW to RPW to EXW & ending at FSW AZ. The support, the kudos, the respect, & yes...even the hate mail, has been appreciated...because it shows that you're reading & paying attention. The Highs & Lows actually helped me get further into the wrestling business then I ever imagined! I've been involved in a match, I've set up the ring, I've helped book (even if in a small way), I've taken road trips, & I've managed...in which I am actually up for Manager of the Year.
And I couldn't have done any of this without you, the readers, & importantly, you, the wrestlers who read this. Without you guys in the ring doing what you do, traveling the roads you traveled...there would be no Toom E Guci.
Whether I gave you guys a good review or a bad review, you still wanted my review. You still respected my words. But the key thing is, even though I say bad stuff at times, I still respect you all 150% for what you do in & out of that ring!
Some of those in my past may not have liked me on a personal level & that's ok...it doesn't mean I stopped respecting you all for the love of the busines, the dedication of the busines, & I will still support any time I can by putting my money down to see you work!
Thank you!
