So, um...honestly, where to begin? My last highs & lows received some negative responses via e-mail, saying I didn't get certain facts right in my highs & lows. So, allow me to point something out as a friendly reminder: my highs & lows are my opinion based on what I see. It is not my job to research facts when I am giving my opinion on something that I witness. So, as it was pointed out after the last show to be fair: FACT...EXW is not losing Celebrity Theatre. I was giving more information on that, but it's not my job to report it. So don't take my opinion to personal. Mind you, I am always welcoming feedback from anybody...fans, wrestlers, bookers, commentators, referees...anybody who wishes to share their thoughts of what I do or say here. You're welcome to your own forum, whether it be public or private. But it doesn't change my opinion.
Second off, this recent show appears to be going a step in a different direction....AGAIN! How many EXW reboots do we need in a company that hasn't even been around 2 years? Because tonight appeared to be a reboot with alot of mess ups in the downward form...who's fault is that? Booking? Ring announcers? Promo givers? All 3? Yeah, I'm going to go with all 3 in tonight's downward spiral.
Let's start off with the key thing: the matches tonight were really solid matches! Considering 3 men worked 3 times in a tournament that the ring announcer goofed up on, they gave it their best damn shot! And were impressive! From Kyle Hawk's Superplex to Mike Da'Lite's Corkscrew Lionsault...from Mosh Pit Mike's bump off the top rope to the stage to the 2 well done heel turns, bringing a change to 2 different wrestlers.
So we shall now begin with this latest ediion of the Highs & Lows...and be forewarned before you continue, they have some spoilers in them if you watch Adrenaline Rush.
Highs:
Sergio Vega's attack of Kyle Hawk after winning the tournament. That was well played out & brought Vega back to the roots that long time Sergio Vega fans know & love!
EXW newcomer/Lucha Airforce making it to the finals of the tournament. Very interesting surprise. Sure, he lost...but he looked good in his first showing.
Mike Da'Lite's Corkscrew Lionsault looked INCREDIBLE & replaces his dropkick as my favorite move of his.
Mike James' attack on Mosh Pit Mike after the show. If that was a heel turn, it was great! (I say if because the fans did not take it as a heel turn & still cheered him....looks like we need a heel turn promo)
Mike James' ring entrance appeared to pay tribute to every style/gimmick he's had. From the return of Personal Jesus to a female fan removing the coat to his pirate trunks & ending it with the mask & the chains he carries in EXW. A great way to take a career change as he ventures onto a path he's never gone before: diehard heel!
Josh Carey's aerial assault attempt...kid always amazes me & to see him try something new was great!
Mosh Pit Mike gets MVP of the night, for sure! Those that don't follow him, he just had an extreme death match with Rexx Reed this past weekend...and tonight he has an Xtreme Rules Match with Mike James, where he takes some nasty looking bumps...especially off the top rope to the hard stage.
The suplex Mike James took to the 2 chairs...true, it didn't go as Mosh Pit planned since the barbed wire bat kept rolling off, but it still did it's job to look impressive!
Jay Garland finally gets a straight up win!
Ray Basura had the only good promo tonight.
Jay Garland/Ryan Castellucci was Match of the Night, by far! Both men had a strong chemistry together.
Kyle Hawk's standing superplex ws incredible! He had the guy up for a good ten count before hitting the superplex!
No Vito & Palumbo...yes, I am happy they weren't there! EXW does NOT need to circle around former WWF stars...it needs to circle around the up & comers as they get help from the veterans who've been there!
Sergio's ring entrance...classic! Keep her around for a while!
Tyson Tyler retains the championship belt via tap out in a very strong match against Cutler Wright.
Mike Da'Lite's Macho Man tribute attire!
Mike Da'Lite versus Chukky Jr...very strong showing.
Johnny Manson/Guzmania seemed to be a pairing I took a strong liking to...even if they lost. Want a legit tag division? Keep them together!
Lows:
The opening contest is announced as a singles match...but it's a tag match. Sure, a goof up like that wouldn't be such a big deal except the second match of the night doesn't have the stipulation of it being "The Winner Gets a Title Shot Next Show" announced until AFTER the match. And for that matter, what title? There's 2 singles titles.
Ok, 2 ring announcing goof ups in a row is no big deal except they did not announce the start of the tournament, thus leaving fans guessing! Was Jay Garland/Ryan Castellucci the start of the tournament? Was Shane Stratmore/Ray Basura the start of the tournament? Nobody had any idea cause it wasn't announced as officially starting! Especially since the Facebook page announced Jay in the tournament & he was/wasn't.
Yes, some folks in EXW are fans of them...but what the hell was the whole point of the TNK promo? And what the hell was the point of Woody/Ivan/Adam/Whateverthefuckhisnameisthisweek coming out & destroying them? If we're bringing a new team in, ok...good! But to destroy them like that with no rhyme or reason...why the hell should Ivan/Adam/IGiveUp even care? Doesn't he have some beef with Lucha Starr & Shadow Fox that we forgot about after 1 show?
Am I the only 1 who found that whole FSW/EXW Merger Promo Talk pointless as well as awkward feeling? It felt way to scripted & phoney, made no sense at all, & what exactly is December 11th? In Vegas? In Phoenix? In Prescott? In Peoria...oh wait, EXW fears shows in Peoria...nevermind!
Mike Da'Lite's springboard dropkicks used to be great...but something seemed off on it tonight!
Not Mike James' best Xtreme Rules Match...he's done better.
And I can understand him alligning with Johnny Roxx, as that man is a great heat seeker...but Woody/Ivan/Fuckit? Heat seeker he's not...more like sucks the air out of the room everytime he wrestles. The guy's been doing it over 2 years, yet he's still green as hell!
Who did Castellucci piss off? Why's he on a losing streak?
No Willie Mack, Rexx Reed, or Cedric the Hitman.
Let Dex Verity be himself! Not Val Venis2.0! He has a strong future to build himself up as & was doing fine before this whole angle started.
Why do we even care about the tag titles anyways? March was the last time the titles were defended in a normal tag team contest with no 6 man tag stipulation or defended in a singles match. The belts were created anyways to feed the Freak Squad's egos...just drop it since they are no tag teams!
Keep the mic away from Tyson or give him a manager...cause he's been around how many years & he still can't cut a good promo?
Lawrence Tyler seemed way lost as GM in his promo...why do we even need a GM anyways? It's been done waaaay to many times!
Way to many botches in the Prophet/Lucha Starr...time away for injury did Prophet no good at all & he still has the rust.
Woody/oh who cares anymore this joke is old...does a face move against TNK then helps Mikes James beatdown Mosh Pit? Um...why?
By the way...when's the next show? They said see ya next show..but when? December 11th? December 6th like the website says? New fans tonight don't know when the next show is!
Overall, strong matches...without a doubt! But the booking left very little to be desired. The ring announcing left fans lost as hell. And other then Ray Basura's promo, the promo's had funs saying, "What the fuck?!" Which leads me to say....thank goodness the matches were good, because it wasn't as bad a clusterfuck as last show!
