Seeing as how I can't base this on the previous show due to me not being there, I base this on the last show I attended. And in comparing the 2, this show was actually much better then the previous one I attended. The only focus for the live audience was the key storyline of Tyson Tyler & Friends. And it seems interesting with where it's going...as long as we don't get any more name callings from Tyson that belongs on the playground like we did with the Network/the Business. Plus, this show brought 2 suprising returns to the EXW ring as well as a debut that honestly had me on my feet...the only moment really to get me on my feet. So, let's begin the Highs & Lows right now!
Highs:
The EXW debut of Sergio Vega. I miss seeing that guy in action, as he always works shows that go on while I am working. His debut was honestly my mark out moment of the night, I'm not going to lie, that had me on my feet. And I even brought back "Cabin Boy" for a minute to get a great response from him. Top it off with Sergio STILL has it!
The return of Jay Garland. Top it off with the crowd being so dead for Jay that I brought back "I paid to see Jay Garland" & attempted the "We paid to see Jay."
The return of Mike Da'Lite. It's always great when Da'Lite surprises me with a visit to the EXW ring.
Dex Verity truly gets the MVP of the night. He took a massive beating from Chuck Palumbo & Johnny the Bull...and looked REAL good doing. I would take a guess that this may have been the biggest match of this youngster's career. And he's fitting in quite well with EXW. And the cradle toss from Palumbo & Stamboli he took looked sick that I flinched.
Kyle Hawk's shoulder block attempts on Ray Basura & Mosh Pit Mike was a great comedy moment that was followed up by both men covering their eyes for Hawk to try again with an even better take down on them.
Mosh Pit Mike waving to the hard camera as he & Basura had Hawk in a suplex. Something about that I found classic.
Mosh Pit Mike wins the Triple Threat by tap out...good to see Mike win a match via submission. Maybe a new approach for him?
Tyson Tyler/Ryan Castelucci...Match of the Night. People may actually disagree with me here, but hear me out. Here's 2 guys with similiar styles competing against each other. Both kept the match very technical & to the point of the storyline, as Ryan was placed in the match instead of Big Vito, as Ryan was Vito's protege. It definetly fit the storyline going on since Ryan's a Jersey Italian Boy, himself. And both had a strong showing against each other.
I do like the idea of Celebrity Theatre. It's centralized for starters. It's a better wrestling feel then a restaurant. Some restaurants/bars work, some don't. TK's didn't work.
Didn't catch their names, but the Lucha tag at the begining was well done. And great to see more Lucha's in EXW. Arizona is rich in Lucha history...good to see EXW adding more of it, as we had a Lucha tag match as well as Sergio Vega versus the returning Prophet.
Cutler Wright shows us, once again, how high he gets with his incredible dropkick!
Always fun to hang with friends during the shows & joke around with them...especially new friends!
Cutler Wright/Cedric the Hitman was a strong match.
Mike Da'Lite/Dex Verity versus Chuck Palumbo/Johnny Stamboli was an excellent tag encounter! And it showed that Palumbo, though his face looks old & worn, that he can still go in a match!
Lows:
The crowd. They honestly seemed dead most of the night & not into. Plus, last show drew around maybe 190...this show looked around 75. Definetly NOT a good showing in their favor. This is where Celebrity Theatre draws a downfall. Not everybody wants to sit close up to the ring because the first 4 rows are hard to see in the ring. So on tv, the venue looks emptier then they hoped for.
Couldn't make out the names of the Lucha's in the first match. Thankfully, the sound quality was fixed.
Adam Smasher? Really? And I thought Josh Carey using his real name was bad. Woody changing his name as he still wears the Woody Woodpecker trunks was a horrible idea!
I go on record as saying they are NOT the FBI. Big Vito was NEVER a member. And Stamboli & Palumbo were in the watered down Vince McMahon's version. You can NOT have a team claiming to be the FBI without the founding father who was in every single carnation of the FBI....Little Guido!
Cedric the Hitman's fisherman suplex looked bad as Cutler landed on his head.
Not enough ring time for Mike Da'Lite.
No Johnny Manson
No Pali Prince.
The kids running & blocking people's views. You wanna touch the wrestlers, fine...but don't be standing & blocking the views during the matches. Granted, my view wasn't blocked, but other fans were.
EXW Girls? Really? The Extasy Dancers failed...do we really need this? And grown man running up to the ring to catch the shirts? WOW! Really? Go buy one if ya want one so bad!
Mike James loses by dq to Willie Mack for use of a chair? The finish was way to lame...especially considering the awesome match the 2 had a couple of months ago. And their previous match showed that they can go better then this!
No where to really hang out & visit with friends after the show. At least TK's had tables & what not...espcially to visit with friends who worked that night after clean up.
Camera man screw up...don't be afraid to get in the ring during a promo. And when Tyson had his beatdown at the end of the show...the camera man should have been in there for better close ups. Something tells me that portion is not going to come out good on tv.
Sorry Basura...I don't like how your hair looks now.
Jay Garland got robbed, losing to Josh Carey. I blame the ref for that!
And kids...if you're watching a match...DO NOT TOUCH THE WRESTLERS AS THEY WRESTLE! Especially if their laying prone in the ring. Just let them be until after the match, then you can touch them if they let you.
This show basically had a New Beginning Feel to it. But sadly, that's not the first time EXW has HAD a New Beginning so to speak. But if things keep going the way this show went, it could look up for them all. With new faces coming in, hopefully the likes of Garland & Vega will stick around, Prophet will continue working there, & we will see more Lucha action, things can fill the voids that were left.
