So after 2 shows that have been strongly downhill, here was the show to hopefully start the rebound upwards. There was a different feel to this show, because after the opening promo...the crowd didn't really seem to care for the first couple of matches. But as things progressed, the crowd was OFFICIALLY drawn in with the Unsanctioned Match. Sadly, it wasn't the Unsanctioned Match advertised last show, but it was a match that brought the crowd not only to their feet very unexpectedly, brought the Xtreme back into the X, & became a match of the Year Canidate. Top that off with an event I am calling the CM Punk Factor...a new EXW Heavyweight Champion was crowned that pissed off half the crowd, shocked everybody in attendance, & literally had me on my feet with my jaw dropped open. And why do I call it the CM Punk Factor? Because it gave you what was missing in wrestling...SUSPENSE! SHOCK! DISBELIEF! Everything that the recent CM Punk storyline has.
Highs:
Miracle Mike James versus Johnny Manson: Match of the Year Canidate, Match of the Night By Far, & brought the xtreme back into EXW.
Mansontaker...this is what actually made the match that much better & shocking. When they announced Mike would have a different unsanctioned opponent as a warm up & Undertaker's music played, you figured this would be another Manson Comedy Match with his current angle. But this match truly delievered in every aspect possible. Ladders, steel chairs, Mike James going old school, "He's hardcore" chant, Manson hitting Undertaker signature moves & making them look good, yet Manson still wrestling in his own style. Manson even was able to hit Old School & the leg drop on the ring apron.
Mike James showed no ring rust from his time away due to his injury. And this was, without a doubt, his best match since his debut in EXW. As well as Manson's best match since his debut in EXW. Probally even Manson's best match that I have ever witnessed, period! So many spots had the entire crowd cringing in pain at how sick they looked.
The Pali Prince shocks everybody & beats Sal in what was originally to be a Lumberjack Gauntlet Match. Sal was the first one in & took advantage when Dom fell off the top rope for the pin. Never before has an independent wrestling moment had me on my feet, speechless, with my jaw dropped in shock. Well booked/played folks!
Derick Neikirk was on his A game with mic work. Whenever he's just out there to have fun & screw around, that's when he does his best mic work. And tonight was truly one of those nights. Hell, he even put me over, saying that he may even pick me to wrestle Dom for his Lumberjack 3 Mystery Opponent Gauntlet Match.
The crowd chanting my name when Neikirk said I may wrestle Dom. Even as a fan, it's awesome when the crowd chants your name! Even Ray Basura was chanting my name.
Mosh Pite Mike versus Kyle Hawk had another strong match. And the Hurricanarama on the outside to Mosh Pit looked sick.
Andrew Hellman versus Cedric the Hitman versus Ryan Castellucci...at first, I was disapointed because I seen Hellman & Cedric work each other in NWA Hollywood & I wanted to see them do it live...but Ryan's return to the EXW ring was on his A game, with no signs of ring rust, & made this the Second Match of the Night!
Kyle Hawk is tremendous when it comes to using the pole in the center of TK's.
Cutler pretty much carried his match with Woody.
Again, no mic time or match for Gallo.
The Pali Price versus Dom was tied for second Match of the Night! Pali prince showed he could hang with the top guy & suprised everybody in the end.
Lumberjack Chop Line on Pali Prince outside the ring when Dom threw him out. Hey, wrestling tradition has to happen somewhere!
Lows:
No Rexx Reed
No Shadow Fox (fractured ribs though...get well soon!)
The Rexx Reed versus Mike James Unsanctioned didn't go down, but word has it Rexx is out with a staph infection so makes sense. Get well soon Rexx!
Dom spilt the soda at our table after Cutler threw him into it. And I do believe it was on purpose since I appeared more over then him!
Why is Ray Basura going over the Pali Prince 1 show after the Pali Prince appears to be getting a push? That made no sense.
Andrew Hellman versus Clutch just felt way off & out of place. Hellman appeared to have his head somewhere else, as he seemed off for the match. Thankfully, he made up for it in the Triple Threat.
No cameras...sadly, it would seem that a show that was done really good will not be shown on the website!
Poor Hailey was the only waitress on tonight. Poor girl was swamped.
Dom's freaking tights looks like he stole them from a stripper at Babe's Cabaret!
So like I said before, things appear to be back on track for EXW if this keeps up! And the Pali Prince has already been told he will have his first title defense at the next show, but he just doesn't know who. Hell, it could even be me from the way things sound! But if things keep going the way they are tonight & Pali Prince retains the belt, then think about how it could look up for EXW. A champion fans really hate & want to see the belt off, strong matches, only 1 promo to start things off & set up the mood. Tonight's show definetly held the right ingredients in what should happen next for EXW!
