You know, it feels good just kicking back, relaxing, & being a paying customer again for wrestling. Yes, I admit I had fun for the short period of time...but being on the fan side, watching the show, & having an opinion just seems to fit me much better no matter how many people don't like what I say. And does that matter that they don't like it? Nope! Because they're STILL reading the words that I type. Hence, I am honestly back where I belong.
And on that note, EXW is slowly going back to where they belong...wrestling. What original was storyline-driven...and bad storylines at that...seems to have wrestling as the key focus, with storyline as a second focus. Mind you, this show was not as solid as the last show...but it wasn't horrible. Second show in a row, evil GM is gone, not many promos are done, & things feel like an independent wrestling show again & not that crap we see on Raw, Smackdown, or TNA. So, we begin with the usual.
Highs:
Cutler Wright versus newcomer Jefe: Strong match of the night!
Cutler's standing moonsault was picture perfect! Especially the height he got on it. As well as his dropkick.
Ultimate Manson...just when you think Johnny has a good identity theft the show before, he steps it up a notch. And his running around the bar like a madman made it even funnier! Not many men can take a comedic gimmick & make it Gold, but Johnny's sense of humor can.
The return of Mike James. True, it was on commentary...but it was great to see him doing SOMETHING so we know how he is.
Kyle Hawk versus Willie Mack. Very strong match & second match of the night!
Masked Blogster & your crew....props to the Ruffio chant for Kyle Hawk. Brilliance on your part!
Looks like we are FINALLY paying attention to Andrew Hellman as the number 1 contender to the Heavyweight Championship, as he got involved with Dom during the main event.
Ray Basura gets mic time! Anytime somebody who is as talented as Ray & is midcard is allowed to talk on the mic is great. But when it's Ray Basura...that man's gimmick is perfect & he makes it work! The last politician gimmick to work was Mr. Bob Backlund...so kudos Ray!
I hope that Jefe fella comes back, as he was incredible.
Joe the ref appears to be the only referee who's not afraid to back down from the wrestlers, yet he's the smallest of the referees.
Some chants created get old & wear out their welcome...but "You can't wrestle" is still up there as a strong one. And the addition of "Yes he can" makes it even better!
Mosh Pit's reactions to said chant, as well...Mosh Pit is one of the best when it comes to interacting with the fans.
No Steve Osborne, evil GM crap again!
Willie Mack gets to put over Kyle Hawk verbally & explain to the fans why he will be vanishing for a bit.
FINALLY a win for JB Bad or whatever name he's going by now! He has strong potential in the ring, but has been under utilized for so long.
Tyson appeared better on the mic...hopefully he can keep it up.
Lows:
Gallo & Dom versus Team Elite....AGAIN! What is this? Part 90?
Shadow Fox has been going downhill as of late & he had quite a few botches that could have injured Cedric severely.
What the hell were Gallo & Dom wearing? They get those tights from the local female strippers?
And I'm sorry....but Gallo, you are NOT the Freak Squad. Frenchy & Dom were the founding fathers & busted their asses for the years they teamed up to perfect that team. Gallo is just jumping on the coat tails.
Cedric wears a tie & nobody chokes him out?
I bought ten bucks in raffle tickets & won NOTHING!!!
Mosh Pit Mike loses AGAIN! What the hell?
Ray Basura gets busted open....Wrestlers of the Year should NEVER bleed!
No Rexx Reed again!
New ref seems to have issues with counting.
Woody versus Johnny the Bull had a feeling of off for some reason.
Dom still hasn't defended the Heavyweight Championship.
Once again, no tag champs...thus, no explanation to why Giant Bernard did what he did.
JB Badd name change? Why?
No Clutch! I like him for his music!
In the past, I bragged about Devin Sparks cutting a promo...but this one felt weak & felt like it dragged. Top it off with the feeling of Tyson taking longer then usual to get out.
No GFY!
Attendance seemed down & it felt like a lot of regulars were missing from tonight's show. Summer heat keeping them away? Bad bookings of previous shows?
