Wow! What else is there really to say but...wow!
A new Elite Champion was crowned. A new Tag Team Champion was crowned...and not who you think. The Heavyweight Championship wasn't defended. Technically 3 promises were broken. But see, I shelled out my money for me & my daughter to go & attend Xtreme Measures & support EXW.
Don't get me wrong...the matches were actually really good for an Adrenaline Rush taping. But this was supposed to be the biggest show of the year! And the only Xtreme was a non-wrestler going through a table. THAT'S IT! Now, most shows say "Card is Subject to Change", so excuse me if I missed that part...because I don't recall it being on the promo posters on Facebook.
So, where to begin?
Highs:
Giant Bernard! Nice suprise to the fans for the main event.
Willie Mack versus Rexx Reed strong Match of the Night.
Willie Mack's corkscrew moonsault. I have always said he is very agile for a big man!
Kyle Hawk/Mike Da'Lite...good match.
Great to see Mike Da'Lite back in EXW!
Cutler Wright versus Andrew Hellman....solid match up.
Credit where credit is strongly do. I was against Steve Osborne being in a wrestling ring for a match, but he played his gimmick right as a heel manager. In for maybe a few seconds, attack his opponent, & quickly get out. Not to mention he had the Bump of the Night by going through a table & taking the GFY.
Mosh Pit Mike has always been a better heel, so good to see him turn in the match thanks to the return of "You Can't Wrestle!"
You Can't Wrestle!
There was a sign in the crowd for me!
The Network versus the Business was a strong match if that ends the story.
Lows:
No Tommy Dreamer! What the hell? I seriously hope this was not a bait & switch...but if you follow Dreamer on Twitter, he has never once mentioned EXW since he was announced last month. And this morning, he was tv shopping instead of at the airport. Not to mention the Dreamer name was being used to sell tickets, yet according to Giant Bernard on Twitter, TWO DAYS AGO, he was taking Dreamer's place...so it was known with fans still thinking Dreamer would be there instead of changing the announcements on Facebook or an explanation.
I'm all for recycling. It's great for the Earth. And recycling wrestling angles & gimmicks....very common. But to recycle an angle 2 hours AFTER it happened on the same show? RELLIK teams with Shadow Fox & LuthchaStarr against Mosh Pit Mike (), Ray Basura, & Cedric the Hitman....only to turn on Fox & Starr, plus take out the opponents & getting the pin. Then Giant Bernard teams up with Team Elite against all 3 Freak Squad, only to turn on Val, take out Neikirk, all 3 Freak Squad members, & get the pin. WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!
Did I miss something? Why was Mosh Pit Mike teaming up with Cedric & Basura?
Dreamer's EXW music hits & nobody recognizes it, so the crowd is dead quiet? COME ON PEOPLE!!!
No missile dropkick from Mike Da'Lite!
Rexx Reed got robbed! He deserved the Elite Belt.
Robocop...AGAIN? Let it go people! Robocop does NOT need to be involved in a huge storyline. Oh, wait....I like recycling, huh?
The show felt more like a Tuesday night show then a super big show.
It's Xtreme, yet the only thing close to xtreme is a table bump for Steve Osborne?
Nothing in the opening contest of Lucha Starr, Shadow Fox, RELLIK versus Cedric the Hitman, Mosh Pit Mike, & Ray Basura made sense.
No Johnny Manson or Sal!
Celebrity Theatre service fees!
No Mike James & STILL no update on Mike James! Didn't they advertise on Twitter a Mike James update?
Who the hell was that ring announcer that took the mic from Bobby, called everybody "sweetheart", & sounded like a complete idiot?
Osborne needs to learn how to sell better when getting kicked around.
No Heavyweight Title Match due to no Dreamer & a Freak Squad run in. 2nd show in a row no title defense for Dom. How can we take him serious as a champ?
Woody's elimination in the Handicapped Elimination Match was pretty weak. Steel chair shot not even seen by the ref?
I think only the diehard wrestling fans knew who Giant Bernard/A-Train was.
Goldberg chants at RELLIK? Really? Come on!
Mind you, the main event & the opening contest had the exact same ending...but the matches in between were pretty strong & to the point. And minus the Robocop crap, the Network/Business Match was solid & did it's job to put all over. Giant Bernard walked out the solo tag champion because the main event was changed from Dom Vitalli versus Tommy Dreamer to Dom Vitalli versus Giant Bernard to Team Elite & Giant Bernard versus the Freak Squad for the EXW Tag Team Championship. Confused? Me too! Thus why Tony says
So the biggest show of the year? Only thing that made it big was that it was at Celebrity Theatre instead of Toby Keith's. I felt like it was Tuesday night & I was in a more comfortable chair & eating a box of popcorn instead of a hamburger.
Now the big question: is Giant Bernard now an EXW mainstay?
