I think we need something like this here, so I'll start it off.
My name is Will, I've been going to the local wrestling shows for the last few years and I enjoy them a lot. I don't have any professional experience in the business other than lending a hand to RPW once in a while. I created this board as a fan that wants to see the scene get stronger.
What about the rest of you?

My Christian name is Benjamin but I am known as Borracho to most on the local scene. I am an older guy comparatively and have been a wrestling fan for more than 30 years. I am married with a college degree, a mortgage and a full time job.
I started wtahcing the American Wrestling Association as a lad in the late 70's. They ran month shows at arenas and some "house shows" at high schools, but I was hooked seeing Hulk Hogan, Mad Dog Vachon, Jerry Blackwell, The High Flyers, etc. I switched to WWFE when I moved to Arizona in 1984. I did not have cable until 1990, so we got by on local syndication and UHF chaneels, showing some Georgia and WCCW stuff.
Throughout high school, college, girlfriends, marriage and career, I never stopped being a fan. During the Monday Night Wars, I cheered for WWFE to beat WCW and loved every minutes of it.
I would have lost some interest in it had not I read an article in Phoenix New Times on Impact Zone Wrestling. After getting fired from a job and having the time, I checked it out and really enjoyed the local show (and it being held in a bar with reasonable drink prices.) I made a lot of friends through the scene, fans and wrestlers alike, and see myself being a part of it for a long time to come and maybe raised the bar on what fans could be. (when I started, fans would chant "Nav's-a-ho." Nyuk nyuk)
The end of Impact Zone Wrestling, while sad, was expected. Irony of ironies, we get Wrestlemania and the local scene goes to hell. I hope others contribute to this board so we, the loyal and loving fans , can anticipate and appreciate the shows to come.
Borracho Next up came the drawing for one of the matches at Battle Bowl. Missy Hyatt "picked" Cactus Jack & Johnny B. Badd vs. Danny Spivey & Van Hammer. People all over America were calling their cable companies to cancel Survivor Series and order Starrcade after hearing that match. Judging from the crowd reaction in Macon from an easy crowd, this was about the point most of them wished they were somewhere else as well. I don't know who is responsible for the various good and bad ideas that were present at this show, but whomever came up with the idea that this specific match should be announced ahead of time--that people would be intrigued about a Hammer-Spivey tag team rather than put to sleep--has no business being in a decision making position in wrestling in 1993. I couldn't have come up with a dumber segment if I set my mind to it. (11/30/92)

Hi, my name is JD and I just discovered this board today after searching to try to find an indy promotion in Arizona.
It turns out that the companies that are here don't advertise themselves very well so they are lucky to have this type of board. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and have called it home for most of the last 30 years. I was "spoiled" from the time I was born by being able to go to weekly Portland Wrestling (NWA) shows and then watching them at home on tv every Saturday night at 10 or 11pm.
During my years growing up as a PW fan it was a weekly occurence to see all of the NWA guys come through and regularly see big name national stars at our local Sports Arena. Guys like Billy Jack Haynes, Buddy Rose, Jesse Ventura, Raven, Kurt Henning, Colonel DeBeers, Roddy Piper, Brian Adams, the Bruise Brothers (harris twins) and so many others spent a LOT of time in Portland Wrestling.
Anyways, that all died in 1991 and we pretty much ost all local Wrestling for the next 10 years until new Companies started showing up (some really good and some really bad).
I became an indy superfan again and went to a ton of good shows. Then I deployed a few times to Iraq, and when I cam home I moved here to the Valley. Now after 9 months of not going to ANY shows....I'm looking for a quality family friendly show here in the valley.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Name is J. I used to watch IZW because it was right down the street from my house. I'm a big fan of Iowa wrestling.

I agree Toomi. That was easily one of the funniest promos that LT has ever cut.

All right, I'll try to keep this short. Name's John. In the summer of 2007, TNA split from the NWA, and so they had a big ol' tournament to crown a new champion. Now, since I'm a massive fan of CHIKARA since 2007 and going, I knew about it because they were hosting a first round match of Claudio Castagnoli VS Sicodelico Jr. But, little did I know that Arizona was hosting such a match until my half-brother told me of the Puerto Rican legend Glamour Boy Shane against the future Darren Young, "Bonecrusher" Fred Samson. Since I love wrestling, I decided to go to this RPW group.
So, I liked what I saw and contiuned to go to them until they sadly closed. Before the end, I managed to learn about IZW, and switched to them until they closed. It wasn't until several months later, I learned about EXW, and have since been following them.
